PHILADELPHIA
--A unique on-line directory of actors and models based in the Philadelphia area is getting applause from industry leaders because it uniquely facilitates the connection between actors, models, and the businesses that need their services.

PhillyFaces.com is now consistently at the top of Google searches for Philadelphia actor model talent. The Sunday New York Times has featured the PhillyFaces.com "talking heads" video innovation.

www.PhillyFaces.com is designed to efficiently display hundreds of actors and models from a full spectrum of local agents and agencies, including independents (i.e., individuals not affiliated with agencies), for review by casting agents, film makers, TV producers, casting directors, advertising agencies, tradeshows, event planners and others needing actor, model or spokesperson talent for film, TV, internet, commericals, radio, voiceover, industrials, corporate events, radio, public events and live promotion. An affiliated talent coordinator, Elizabeth Santaniello of STM/ Santaniello Talent Matrix ** can provide casting support services and assistance.

Some of the people involved with Philadelphia film making have been quick to understand the benefits of streamlining the talent search process.

“PhillyFaces.com is a great idea and should be very helpful in promoting film making in our city,” said Sharon Pinkenson, director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.

“The site will definitely make it easier for clients to find the talent they need,” said Ellen Wasser-Hrin, director of MMA Model Management one of the area’s largest agencies. “I’m encouraging all my talent to get on the site . . .”

Casting directors and modeling agencies throughout the city have endorsed the site with enthusiasm.

• Mary Anne Claro, of Claro Talent, in south Philadelphia
...“What a fantastic idea!”
• Linda Wisch of Plaza 7
... "It’s a great way to get additional exposure for my models ”

• Kathi Anderson, of Jo Anderson Models, in Cherry Hill
...“I love the design and image quality.”

PhillyFaces.com is the brainchild of Joe Chielli, photographer and founder of Church Street Studios LLC in Old City Philadelphia.

According to Chielli the site will provide a far more comprehensive on-line directory of Philadelphia-area talent than what any one agent or agency can provide. PhillyFaces.com will enable a TV producer, film maker, ad agency, or casting director from anywhere in the world to quickly scroll through hundreds of models and actors looking for a face that matches their idea of the “right person”. When they find it, they click on that face to open that person’s talent webpage. Their talent webpage provides portfolio, stats, and contact info, all the information needed to go forward with the booking process.

From the start, the PhillyFaces.com website led to important bookings and exposure for a number of actors and models.

Even before its promotion began on the internet, Gene Terinoni landed a print advertising job; James Vescho and Donna Hatch were booked in a shoot for a local company’s web site; Infinity 4888 (Ramona Henry), received two 1/2 day bookings for fashion catalogue shoots; Kia Aleem was booked as a fashion model for the opening of Philadelphia ’s new Versace store; and Danielle Weiand was discovered on PhillyFaces.com by Diva Models in NYC, whose clients include GAP, Elle, and Cosmopolitan Magazines . . .

“Our aim is to make Philadelphia the easiest, most convenient city in the country to find and book talent for film, TV, theater, tradeshows, advertising, print . . . everything.” says Joe Chielli.

A basic listing on www.PhillyFaces.com costs actors and models a nominal fee and includes one photo, stats, and contact information. PhillyFaces.com members also get their own personal talent web site, and qualify for free notices of auditions, model calls and other opportunities from PhillyFaces.com E-Broadcast. The price barely covers the expense of website building, hosting, paperwork, database maintenance, internet advertising, promotion, etc.

“I suppose like many others I am weary of the New York, LA shadow effect and would like to see Philadelphia emerge and be recognized as the really great city for the arts that it is,” said Chielli. “If I can provide a service that keeps moving the city in that direction and provides good publicity for Church Street Studios, I will be very happy.”

As a photographer for over 20 years in Old City, Joe Chielli has worked with hundreds of models and actors and built a reputation for high quality, exceptional service and professionalism. Over ten years ago he expanded the services of the studio to include graphic design and website design, and more recently web videography.

Is this helping Philadelphia grow as a major film-making, TV production city? Over the last several years, things have been moving in the right direction.

We have witnessed the publication of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office Film and Video Guide. We have seen the ramping up of city services and benefits for the arts.

There has been an increasing flurry of activity among local casting directors, more talent throwing their hats into the Philadelphia ring, local construction of film production and services facilities, and a growing number of significant movies being shot on location in our city. "Movie tourism" for well-known Philadelphia movie scenes has begun . . .

By making it easier for the talent booking industry to view the more of the local talent in our city, PhillyFaces.com is making its contribution to enhance the choice of Philadelphia as the best place to shoot a new film or TV project.
